COMPLAINT AGAINST THE COMMUNIST GOVERNMENT OF VIETNAM: ARBITRARY IMPRISONMENT AND INFRINGEMENT OF THE UNITED NATIONS CONVENTION AGAINST TORTURE

The entire group of 21 citizens including women were beaten until covered in blood before they were locked up in a dark, dirty room for almost 48 hours. To make matters worse, the authorities did not provide food or drinking water for the detainees. This cruel mistreatment is clear evidence of the Vietnamese communist government’s violations of UNCAT. - Association of Prisoners of Conscience and Religious Freedom for Vietnam.

DUSTIN ROASA - VIETNAM DISSIDENTS FORCED TO FLEE AFTER EXPOSING COMMUNIST CRACKDOWN

Nguyen Thu Tram and Nguyen Ngoc Quang threatened with imprisonment after collaborating with the Guardian on a story about harassment of pro-democracy activists 

Two Vietnamese dissidents have fled the country under the threat of imprisonment or worse after collaborating with the Guardian on an article that highlighted a mounting crackdown in the country.In addition, the correspondent who wrote the story, freelancer Dustin Roasa, was detained as he tried to return to Vietnam recently and held overnight at Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat airport before being put on a flight out of the country the next day. "You are not welcome in Vietnam for security reasons," Roasa was told.

VIETNAM DISSIDENT BEATEN AHEAD OF DIPLOMAT MEETING

HANOI, Vietnam (AP) — A Vietnamese dissident said Wednesday that suspected government agents assaulted him and his wife this week as they were heading to a meeting with an Australian diplomat to talk about the human rights situation in the country. 

While harassment and intimidation of activists are common in Vietnam, the fact that Nguyen Bac Truyen and his wife were targeted on their way to meet with a diplomat angered Western embassies and represents an escalation in the campaign to silence critics.

Today posted two significant articles written by Dustin Roasa, a Western journalist based in Southeast Asia whose focus is on human rights struggles for freedom within the region. In the latest development, he met up with two pro-democracy activists in Vietnam, Nguyen Ngoc Quang and Nguyen Thu Tram. Little did they know that a short meeting with a foreign journalist will then place their lives at risk from the Communist regime and caused them to be displaced from their homes.

POLICE ESCALATE HARASSMENT ON HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVISTS

Như Ngọc (Danlambao) - At 12:55 a.m. on Feb. 1, 2014 – the third day of the Lunar New Year, more than 20 police raided Mr. Truong Minh Duc’s house at N3 street, neighborhood No. 4, My Phuoc 1 town, Ben Cat district, Binh Duong province to check family register. Huynh Anh Tu and Huynh Anh Tri came to visit Mr. Truong approximately 2 hours before the raid and they both became the main targets of that police operation.
